Veterinarians

Dr. Merlin Ross B.Sc., D.V.M.

Dr. Ross was born and raised in Manitoba.  He graduated from Brandon University with a Bachelor Degree in Science in 1976.  He went on to complete his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 1985.  Dr. Ross has been part of the White Rock Veterinary Hospital team since 1986 when he moved to the area.  When away from the hospital, he likes to spend time with his wife, two daughters, and two cats, Jasper and Lucca.  He enjoys travelling, cooking, and is a long-suffering fan of the Vancouver Canucks.

 

 

Dr. Ruth Kennedy B.Sc. (Agr), D.V.M.

Dr. Kennedy grew up in Vancouver.  She graduated from UBC with a Bachelor Degree in Agricultural Science in 1980.  Then she went to the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan and graduated in 1984.  Dr. Kennedy joined the White Rock Veterinary Hospital in 1989.  She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and believes it is important to keep up with the latest diagnostics, disease conditions, and treatments available in small animal medicine.  She has developed a special interest in dentistry and has taken extra courses in this field.  Dr. Kennedy and her husband live in the area and share their home with a yellow lab, Tiberius, and cats, Jackson and Tom.  When away from the hospital, she enjoys spending time with her sons, camping, hiking, skiing, reading, and gardening.

 

Dr. Stephen Wood B.Sc., D.V.M.

Dr. Wood graduated from the University of Dalhousie with a Bachelor Degree in Marine Biology in 1987.  He went on to complete his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Atlantic Veterinary College at the University of Prince Edward Island in 1993.  He practiced in Alberta for two years before moving to the Lower Mainland.  Dr. Wood has been part of the White Rock Veterinary Hospital team since 1995.  His interests are in geriatrics and surgery.  Dr. Wood lives with his wife, Ginette, and two children, Bryce and Michaela.  They have four horses, a rescued greyhound, Sahara, a miniature poodle, Astra, three cats, Mittens, Leila, and Ace, and exotic chickens.  When away from the hospital, he enjoys fishing, camping, gardening, and cooking.

 

Dr. Marin Guldie B.Sc. (Agroecology), D.V.M.

Dr. Guldie grew up in the lower mainland having lived in both South Surrey and Langley. She graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agroecology in 2004. She went on to complete her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan in 2010. After graduation she practiced at a small animal clinic in Mission before joining the team at White Rock Veterinary Hospital in 2012. In her time away from the hospital, Dr. Guldie enjoys hiking, reading, travelling and spending time with her husband and their cat, Boo. Dr. Guldie has recently returned from maternity leave after having twin daughters.

 

 

Dr. Jessie Hare B.Sc. (Hon), D.V.M.

Dr. Hare graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1998.  She then moved to the west coast and practiced in the Delta and the Lower Mainland area.  After working full time for eight years, she decided to change to locum work, to combine her desire to see more of BC with her love of veterinary medicine.  Dr. Hare began working part-time at the White Rock Veterinary Hospital in 2007.  She is interested in preventative medicine and always enjoys new puppy and kitten visits.  In her spare time she enjoys running and biking.
