Medical Services

We offer a wide range of medical services with the most current technology. Here are some of the in-hospital medical services we provide:

In-House Blood and Urine Testing

We are able to run basic blood tests in our laboratory. This includes red and white blood cell counts, electrolyte levels, blood sugar, kidney values, and liver enzymes. This is especially convenient because we can run the necessary tests before your pet undergoes general anesthesia. These tests can be done the morning of your pet’s scheduled surgery to ensure they are healthy. We can also test your pet’s urine for any infection.

Cardiopet ECG

An electrocardiogram (ECG) records the heart’s electrical activity and is used to measure and diagnose abnormal rhythms of the heart. Our hospital is equipped with a Cardiopet bluetooth transmitter. This transmitter allows us to complete an ECG in five minutes or less. The signal is transmitted to Cardiopet with the help of their technician. The ECG is then evaluated by a veterinary cardiologist. A full report from Cardiopet provides diagnostic and therapeutic recommendations for your pet’s heart condition.

Blood Pressure Monitoring

There are several conditions, especially in cats, that can cause high blood pressure. We are able to detect this with our blood pressure machine and monitor response to treatment. Blood pressure is also monitored in all patients during surgery.

Tonometry

This is a simple test to determine the intraocular pressure of the eye. A small drop of topical anaesthetic is placed in the eye and the surface of the eye is lightly tapped with a Tonopen. This testing is very important to diagnose and monitor treatment in patients that have glaucoma. Persistent high pressure in the eye can cause permanent damage to the optic nerve leading to blindness.
